2018 was a year filled with travel, adventure, romance, and beauty. The year started out with a bang. For Ryan’s 30th birthday, I surprised him with not only a party (thank you to all of our friends and family who traveled from near and far to celebrate him) but also with a trip to go skiing in the French Alps.
From there, we headed to Paris where we spent a week in the most stunning apartment enjoying long afternoon strolls by the Seine, leisurely meals in our favorite cafes, and a bit of shopping at Le Bon Marche.
In March it was off to New York City for Leif & Grania’s wedding at 501 Union in Brooklyn. Two days before we met in Manhattan for their engagement session in Central Park and on the High Line – so fun!
Then in April, after a particularly long winter, we booked a spontaneous getaway to spend a week on the beautiful Harbour Island. The bohemian chic Ocean View Club quickly became one of our favorite hotels that we can’t wait to return to!
May was a busy month of preparing for our summer and fall travels, and then in June I set-off to spend five weeks in Europe. First, Ryan an I spent two weeks on holiday exploring the English countryside. We started in the Peak District then drove south to the sophisticated Cotswolds, then the dramatic coastline on Devon (where we stayed at the most gorgeous hotel), and finally to a country estate in Surrey frequented by Winston Churchill.
Next, it was off to France for Sam & Pierre’s beautiful destination wedding in Normandy followed by their honeymoon session in Paris. Their wedding was one of the most emotional, joyful, and touching days that I have ever been a part of!
I spent the next two and a half weeks working in Paris and had the opportunity to host my sister Meredith on her first trip to Europe! I photographed two wonderful couples (Lauren & Nick and Stephanie & Guillaume), finally was able to meet and photograph the amazing Breanna of Petite Abeille Design, and had the opportunity to be a part of the most stunning wedding editorial at Musee Rodin.
August was spent editing and at the end of the month, it was off to the mythical Greek island of Santorini for Nicole & Christopher’s elopement! I’ll be sharing photos soon (they are going to be featured by Martha Stewart Weddings), but suffice it to say it was an absolutely incredible experience.
Two weeks later we flew back to Europe for a family holiday in Spain. We spent a week in Andalucia followed by three days in the vibrant city of Seville.
From there, Ryan and I traveled to Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat where we spent the week celebrating our wedding anniversary. We explored the Cote d’Azur, and fell absolutely in love with the stunning Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild.
Sadly, Ryan had to head back to the States, but on the same day that he left my Mom arrived for two more weeks of exploration and photoshoots! We started with four days in Burgundy where we photographed the most gorgeous editorial at Chateau de Varennes. From there, it was off to Paris where we were greeted with the most glorious autumn weather imaginable. A quick flight later and we were in Tuscany for a stunning photoshoot at Villa di Geggiano (coming soon to Style Me Pretty) followed by a quick trip to the English countryside to photograph an editorial with the wonderful sister team of Lily & Sage. To celebrate our hard work we spent our final three days in Paris decorating cakes, eating cheese, and enjoying some mother daughter time. It was busy, exhausting, and magical!
After nearly four months of travel, November and December were spent enjoying the holiday season at home with my beloved Ryan and Yoda!
I can’t even begin to describe how incredible this year has been and how thankful I am for the countless friendships I have made. From my amazing couples who have invited me into their lives and given me the immense honor of documenting their wedding day, to the talented vendors who have created so much beauty and who I am lucky enough to consider friends, to my family who has been so incredibly supportive of my dream – from the very bottom of my heart, thank you! May your 2019 be filled with beauty, love, and adventure!
