The morning before Jillian & Alex’s Berkshires destination wedding at Blantyre Estate, we spent a few hours exploring the nearby Lenox countryside capturing their love story on film. As a Mount wedding photographer, I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful way to kick off their wedding weekend. Three months before the big day, we met at the Brooklyn bridge at sunrise for their New York City engagement session, and it was such a treat having these two in front of my camera again.

Built in 1902, The Mount is a turn-of-the-century home, designed and built that is now recognized as a National Historic Landmark. For Jillian and Alex, who originally planned to get married in the English countryside at Babington House but opted to relocate their wedding to the States due to Covid-related travel restrictions, the property had a decidedly European influence which connected perfectly with their wedding vision and personal aesthetic.
Styled by Over the Moon, Jillian looked absolutely exquisite in her Caroline Constas dress and classic Manolo Blahnik pumps (which she removed for a spontaneous barefoot stroll in the grass). Alex donned a pale blue linen shirt and white pleated tuxedo pants that were a subtle nod to the Edwardian era country estate.
Besides giving us the opportunity to create timeless images that will become your family’s heirlooms, a pre-wedding session is a wonderful time for the two of you to spend a few precious hours alone together during an otherwise busy week of celebrations and activities. It creates an intimate feeling of romance while beautifully documenting your wedding in a way that feels iconic and cinematic.
As the sun rose into the bright blue sky, we returned to Blantyre which played host to the weekend’s festivities. Before Jillian and Alex returned to their guests, they were treated to a luxurious private breakfast for two al fresco, complete with fine crystal, silver, china, and Dom Perignon champagne. It was truly the perfect way to kick off the wedding celebration!
