There is something about Florence that just seems to inspire romance. Maybe it’s the slow pace and the focus on life’s pleasures – the feel of the Italian ‘La Dolce Vida’ lifestyle. Perhaps it’s the abundance of Renaissance art – luminous, elegant, sensual. Or, maybe it’s the way the golden Tuscan light and rich, Florentinian color palette seems to create a feeling of warmth that wraps about your body and soul. For honeymooners Melissa and Robert, this sentiment rang true on so many levels. Scroll down to see their gorgeous sunrise session!

Melissa and Robert spent the summer traveling through Europe for their honeymoon, and I had the pleasure of meeting them in Florence for a sunrise session at the Duomo. Melissa, a lifestyle blogger, spent part of her college experience living in Florence and because of this was very excited to return back to the jewel of Italy with her love.
The Duomo is one of Italy’s most beautiful and iconic monuments, and having the entire piazza nearly to ourselves was a dream come true and made the early morning wake up call so very worth it. I just stepped back and allowed Melissa and Robert a few moments to soak in the romance of the city and the warmth of their love.
A complete candid as we explored the Piazza del Duomo, this photo of the two of them walking hand in hand is an absolute favorite of mine. There’s something about the light, the colors, the architecture, that make it feel like an old snapshot unearthed after decades.
The way Robert looks at Melissa is so incredibly touching. There is something about travel and experiencing new cultures that is such a beautiful bonding experience for a couple, and after nearly two months exploring the world together – these two were so in-sync.
After a few more photos, Robert headed back to their flat so that Melissa and I could spend the next hour exploring the city together and creating images for her brand. Chatting about our travel adventures and love of art and beauty, we could barely contain our laughter and immediately felt like old friends.
I loved Melissa’s baby blue Chanel-inspired suit! She has such amazing style (and travel recommendations) – be sure to follow along on her international adventures on Instagram.
Melissa, Robert, and I had so much fun that Ryan and I actually got together with them twice more during our time in Florence, sipping Limoncello and laughing until late in the night. I loved getting to know this wonderful couple and look forward to more adventures with them in the future!
