Inspired by Grace Kelly, Jackie Kennedy, and Marie Antoinette, Michaela & Nick were originally scheduled to get married at the iconic St. Regis New York. However, Covid had other plans, so the couple decided to move their wedding to the bride’s childhood home on the East Coast. The effervescent Michaela didn’t skip a beat, and, with the help of their planner, A Votre Service Events, they created a dreamscape truly fit for royalty. As a Connecticut wedding photographer, everything about this special day—from the custom striped dinner chairs to the exquisite six-tiered wedding cake—was a dream come true for me to capture on medium format film.

There is something so special about historic New England towns, and the charming waterfront village of Essex is exceptionally picturesque. And, what could be more iconic than a wedding at home. ‘Father of the Bride’, anyone?
One of my favorite moments of the day – when Michaela’s mother and sister helped her put the finishing touches on her veil and bridal crown.
Michaela’s bridal look was inspired by Princess Grace, and I absolutely love the sunlit portraits we created in the moments before we left for the church.
Michaela’s bridesmaids donned French blue gowns from Dear Cleo and spent a few minutes enjoying the gorgeous Connecticut sunshine before we departed for the chapel.
Michaela and Nick opted to be married in the same church where the brides parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles were married decades before. In fact, the alter actually features a mural painted by Michaela’s uncle (in which Michaela and her cousins are each represented as one of the cherubs).
The reception was held at Michaela’s family home, and A Votre Service Events created a dreamscape fit for royalty inside of a stunning clear dinner tent.
As the sun set, Michaela, Nick, and I stepped out to capture their bride and groom portraits on her property. The couple absolutely overflowed with joy and Michaela couldn’t keep a smile off her face.
