A few weeks ago I returned home from photographing a wedding to find my husband waiting for me with my packed suitcase. To my surprise, I hopped into the car (having no idea where we were going), and six hours later we arrived to one of my absolute favorite places on Earth – The Greenbrier. Founded in 1778, the historic property located in Southeast West Virginia is a dreamy weekend retreat which offers a plethora of outdoor activities, an amazing spa, and the most over-the-top fabulous decor by none other than Dorothy Draper herself. We enjoyed the warm summer weather with morning swims by the pool, an afternoon of hiking, and dinner and dancing in their elegant main dining room.

The trip was especially meaningful for me as my family has been visiting The Greenbrier for nearly forty years. My grandparents celebrated their golden anniversary there. My mom and I visited to celebrate my college graduation and her official diagnosis of being in remission of cancer, and for years I have wanted to share the experience with Ryan. It was so lovely being back, and I look forward to visiting again soon.
