This past fall was a whirlwind of beauty and adventure. We started out with two weeks in Andalucia and Seville, followed by a week on the French Riviera, and from there it was three weeks of hopping through Europe from shoot to shoot – the last two of which were with my lovely mom. Of course, we simply couldn’t miss spending a few days enjoying the beautiful autumn weather in the City of Light, documenting it all on medium format film. One of my absolute favorite ways to spend a sunny fall afternoon in Paris is laying in the grass in Place des Vosges. As it’s one of the few parks in Paris where patrons are allowed on the grass, you’ll find Parisians enjoying picnics, naps, poetry readings, and about every other activity imaginable here. In the fall the trees turn the most glorious shade of gold.
Beautiful in any season, the Palais-Royal remains one of my absolute favorite places in the city. Although it’s located in the busy 1st Arrondissement, just steps from the Louvre, it somehow always remains a quiet respite. With gorgeous architecture, a lovely rose garden, and the famous black and white striped columns of Daniel Buren, Palais-Royal is the perfect place to spend an afternoon with a book, basking in the French sunshine.
On a sunny afternoon, Parisians flock to the iconic Jardin des Luxembourg in the 5th Arrondissement. The palatial gardens are especially gorgeous in the fall when the trees begin to change from green to glorious shades of red, gold, and orange. Bring a wedge of cheese, a bottle of wine, and a baguette, and you have the perfect French dinner al fresco.
